A new Masters degree is being offered at PSTGU: Religious Aspects of Russian Culture in the 19th and Early 20th centuries

The aim of the new program, which will be launched in September 2014, is that of fostering a deeper understanding of the role of the spiritual values and religious experience of Christianity and Orthodox in the history of Russian culture in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Students from Germany visit St. Tikhons Orthodox University
On September 16th a group German students visited St. Tikhons Orthodox University. The group was formed by students and professors of Theological faculties all around Germany, who came to Russia in order to took part in the International school of theology organized in the context of the forum Piterburgsky dialog.

The opening of the new club PSTGU-Serbia took place on 16th May at St. Tikhons University
On 16th May 2014, in the Conference Room of the St. Tikhon Orthodox University in Moscow was inaugurated the club for the friendship among Russia and Serbia PSTGU-Serbia, whose birth has been made possible by the effort of the office for International Relations on the basis of the long-lasting relations the University has with several Serbian academic and cultural institutions.

The new club PSTGU-Serbia will be inaugurated tomorrow, 16 May 2014, at 17.00 in the Conference Room of the St. Tikhons Orthodox University. During the evening prof. Feodor Albrecht, dean of the Philological Faculty, and prof. Adriana Voronova, teacher of Sacred Arts, are expected to hold a brief lesson about Serbian contemporary culture. Delegates from the Serb Embassy in Moscow are expected to come.

From 23rd December 2013 to 29th January 2014 Moisej Khalchenya and Dmitry Erega, students at the St. Tikhons Orthodox University, went to India with the blessing of the Archbishop of Egorevsk, Mark, together with a group of missionaries lead by Georgy Maksimov, deacon. The travel aimed at helping the Orthodox communities in the state of Goa, West India.

In February John P. Burgess, professor at the Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh (USA) took part into the TV program "Tserkov i mir" (The Church and the world), on the TV channel Rossiya 24, as visiting professor of St. Tikhons Orthodox University [see previous news]. The program is broadcasting on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th April.

A group of Japanese researchers visit St. Tikhons Orthodox University
On Monday 25th March a group of Japanese researchers met some representatives of St. Tikhons Orthodox University, among which the rector, father Vladimir Vorobev. Prof. Yukiko Savano, leader of the delegation, is now working on a three-year research project financed by the Japanese Ministry of Education and Science about educational reforms twenty years after the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

On Friday 22th February in Berlin an agreement was signed between St. Tikhons Orthodox University and Humboldt Universität. St. Tikhons University is the first private university to sign a cooperation agreement with the famous German institution.

The exchange program between St. Tikhons Orthodox University and the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan continues

Four girls from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart (Milan, Italy) are now in Moscow in order to spend their spring semester at St. Tikhons Orthodox University. Their experiences have been possible thanks to a cooperation agreement signed in 2007 between the two institutions. 36 students participated in this exchange program so far: 15 Russians and 21 Italians.

Professor Burgess again in Russia to share the result of his researches
Professor Burgess spent the 2011-2012 academic year at St. Tikhon`s University while researching different dimensions of the Russian Orthodox Church's program of vocerkovlenie. He has returned to Russia for several weeks to share the results of his work and to solicit response. He will read his lecture on Saturday 23th February.

On Friday 7th February in S. Nicholas church, St. Tikhons university celebrated the day dedicated to the icon Utoli moya pechali (Comfort my sadness). The Archbishop of Vereya Evgeniy, president of the Committee on Education of the Orthodox Russian church, and the Bishop of Smolensk and Vyazema Panteleymon officiated the Divine Liturgy together with father Vladimir Vorobev, rector at St. Tikhons.

On Tuesday 25th December went on air Eternity and Time, a TV show hosted by father Vsevolod Chaplin, chairman of the Synodal Department for the Cooperation of Church and Society of the Moscow Patriarchate. The episode was focused on the problem of education in modern Russia. To the show were invited S. N. Baburin, scholar of Economics and politician, and Father Lev Semenov, dean of the faculty of Advanced Education at St. Tikhon`s University.

On 7th November 2012 the exhibition Overtaking: Russian Church and Soviet power was opened at the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia (Tverskaya Ul. 21, Moscow). It is dedicated to the persecutions of the Church in the Soviet Union and has been realized by St. Tikhons University in collaboration with the museum.
