In late September, Dr. John Byrom, a professor from Scotland, held a series of lectures for the students of the Theological Department. His lectures were given on two topics: "The Beauty of English poetry" and "Accents and dialects of English." In his talks on the beauty of English poetry, Dr. Byrom analyzed with students the poetry of Charles Causley, Edward Thomas, Louis MacNeice, Philip Larkin, and W. H. Auden. His seminar on the accents and dialects of English was dedicated to the British dialects and their grammatical and phonetic differences.
These studies aroused great interest among the students, who had the opportunity to ask Dr. Byrom questions in English.
