Saint Tikhons teachers participate in Minsk forum
On April 20-22, 2017, in Minsk, the Fifth International Academic Conference on Religion and History was held in Minsk. The conference saw the participation of teachers and researchers from the Faculty of Theology of Saint Tikhons University.

The conference is held by the Saints Cyril and Methodius Institute of Theology, part of Belorussian State University, with support from the Department of Philosophy of Religion and Religious Culture, of the Faculty of Theology of Saint Tikhons University. In all, 171 participants from 14 countries took part in the conference.

The salutatory address and paper Religious studies in Russian religious thought: psychological aspects were given at the opening of the conference by the head of the Department of Philosophy of Religion and Religious Culture, Doctor of Philosophy Constantine Mikhailovitch Antonov.

The work of the special sessions continued through April 21 and 22. The professors from Saint Tikhons University took part in several sessions, including:
Religious Cultural Studies (Candidate of Philosophy Tatiana Alexandrovna Folieva, with a paper on Visuality and Religion; Candidate of Philosophy Pavel Gerogievitch Nosachev with a paper on Russian Rock Music and the Occult: Towards a Statement of the Problem; and Candidate of Sociology Ivan Vladimirovitch Zabaev, with a paper on Humility and Charisma: Elective Affinity of Institutions and Ethics in Russian Orthodox Parishes)

History of Religious Studies (Candidate of Philosophy Tatiana Alexandrovna Folieva, with a paper on Children, Religion, and Soviet Psychology; Candidate of Philosophy Ksenia Alexandrovna Kolkunova, with a paper on Approaches to Discourse in Research in Religious Studies)

Philosophy of Religion (Nadezhda Alexandrovna Koreneva, with a paper on Vyacheslav Ivanovitch Ivanovs Concept of Religious Experience; Daria Alexandrovna Chentsova with the paper Between Phenomenology and Theology: Semyon Frank and Emmanuel Lévinas).

Sociology of Religion (The Very Rev. Archpriest Nikolai Emelianov, with the paper Time-Structuring of the Activity of an Orthodox Priest and the Religious Situation in Russia; Kirill Vasilevitch, graduate student in the Department of Religious Studies, with a paper on Reasons Why Orthodox Russians Dont Go to Church; and two researchers from the laboratory of sociology of religion: Elena Viktorovna Prutskova, with the paper Preparations for the Celebration of Easter (according to data obtained in a survey conducted during the blessing of kulich breads in the churches of the Eastern Vicariate of Moscow on Great Saturday, 2016), and Elena Bagratovna Melkumyan, a study on Social Portraits of Orthodox Christians, according to data from the same survey, which was entitled Great Saturday: Sociological survey in churches of the Eastern Vicariate of Moscow.

 Participation in such conferences by the professors and researchers of the Faculty of Theology of Saint Tikhons University expands the universitys opportunities for international collaboration, and allow them to present the results of their research on a high academic level.
