Meeting of Greece-Cyprus Club
On May 10, 2017, in the Conciliar Chamber of the main building of Saint Tikhons University in Lihov Lane, an annual session of the Saint Tikhons University Greece-Cyprus Club was convened. The event was dedicated to the life of Orthodox parishes in Greece and Cyprus, and was organized by the Universitys Department of International Relations, with support from the Center for Spiritual Education.

Addressing the audience, The Very Rev. Archpriest Lev Semyonov, leader of the Center for Spiritual and Ms. Teodora Yiannitsa, director of the Greek Cultural Center in Moscow, opened the evenings events. Both have been distinguished members of the club since the very beginning. The Very Rev. Archpriest Georgiy Orehanov, Deputy Rector for International Relations at Saint Tikhons University, was also present at the gathering.

Next, the attendees listened with great interest to a presentation on the research expedition to Cyprus and Greece undertaken by teachers of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Saint Tikhons University, given by the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Igor Pavlovitch Ryazantsev, Doctor of Economics, and by the Deputy Director of the Facultys Center for Statistical Analysis, Dr. Maria Alexandrovna Polesnaya.

The clubs meeting continued with a presentation of the book Parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church in Russia and Abroad: Orthodox Parishes in the Greek World (Greece, Cyprus). Place and Role of Russian-speaking Communities (Moscow: Saint Tikhons University Press, 2017, 248pp.). The anthology is the fifth in the series Orthodox Sociology and was presented by the editor-in-chief, Prof. Ryazantsev, and the compiling editor, Dr. Podlesnaya.

According to tradition, the evening was rounded off by a small concert. Those gathered at the event warmly welcomed the choirs of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Saint Tikhons University and the Psaltika School of Byzantine Music in Moscow (led by Constantine Photopoulos, of Athens), and the vocal ensemble of the Greek Cultural Center in Moscow (led by Inessa Efremeidou).
